Posted - 28 Jul 2013 : 10:32:45 Thanks to all the folk that tried a game of Witchfinder General or stopped for a chat at the first Warlord Games Day that was held yesterday. It was good fun to observe friends, siblings and fathers and daughters battle against each other at the walls of Ellsmouth Castle. There was some great moments – one young woman rolled ‘five sixes’ at once during a particularly vicious round of Fisticuffs and she was very happy indeed. Not only did she dispatch a Stickler but her opponent, her Dad, had also promised to pay his daughter £5.00 if she could roll five sixes! It really was a grand day . The event was full of a variety of superb participation games. There were some really good gaming tables. A long D-Day table that included a Normandy beach-head, a small village and a vital bridge further inland was very impressive. For ‘steam punk’ fans there was a very nice industrial layout to fight ‘In His Majesty’s Name’. ‘Black Powder’, ‘Pike and Shotte’ and ‘Bolt Action’ players had a number of great games to choose from and everyone had clearly put a lot of time in to create some top terrain. The hot dogs were good too and the people that staffed the barbeque on such a hot day did a sterling job. Everyone seemed to really enjoy the different seminars that occurred throughout the day and the tours of the Warlord Games factory that were available too. Mr Undave has written a comprehensive review of the day on the Warlord forum and he describes some of the releases that Warlord have planned for the near future. Witchfinder players may be particularly interested in some of the Thirty Years War figures that will be released soon. I would like to thank the Warlord Team for inviting ‘Witchfinder’ to the event and Chris, Ian and James from Scarborough Games Society for their help during the day.
The Wargames Soldiers & Strategy magazine have added some photos of the day to their Facebook page
