Been playing with some house rules for preachers in my recent games. Preachers are a great addition when facing the undead but other than that, I felt they needed something else so....I've allowed them to use both commands to give a rousing sermon or psalm giving a +1 bonus to the next scarper/all is lost check within 8" radius.
Have found it to work ok and makes a nice cinematic moment, when just on the brink of disaster the fire and brimstone speach spurs the men on for the cause of good.
Let me know what you think

"Preachers of Despond"

I use Sarge's rule and given the views of the day I felt that there may well be a case to believe that not all clergy are on the side of the angels and so the idea of Preachers of Despond came about.

These are deployed by the side of evil and can be placed amongst their opponents. These preachers have a skill called twisted words and for one action they may undermine anyone within 3" by use of sophistry and cynical words causing a -1 penalty to scarper and all is lost tests.

Their statistics are like those of other preachers but they cannot be physically attacked by anyone unless they first initiate violence, one exception to this is noted below.

A preacher in earshot can confront and, (providing he passes both a self control and a what's that noise test), attack the preacher of despond. The victor in one of these fights increases the effects of their 'sermons' to +2/-2 as appropriate.

This is a sound additional rule Sarge - thanks for sharing it . With Halloween coming up the Witchfinders could do with more help.
