Would any forum members be interested in visiting Scarborough over the weekend of 2nd and / or 3rd November 2013 for a Witchfinder General gaming day (or weekend) ? If so I would be happy to hire a pleasant (warm) venue and provide gaming tables, plenty of terrain and some fiendish encounters for the event. If folk were interested I could also arrange for a 'big screen' showing of a classic Horror movie (such as Twins of Evil)in the evening. Good grub would also be essential. The cost would be travel, accommodation (if staying overnight- Scarborough has plenty of decent B&Bs), food and beverages. Alternatively folk may prefer a one day event? Any thoughts on such a gathering gratefully received.

I could go for this.
The film of course should be Witchfinder General starring Mad Vince...

Cheers Rapier. There are now six folk interested, so that is more than enough for a grand day or two of gaming. Lets confirm the event and the classic horror movie of choice later- there are so many good ones to choose from.
On a different matter I am trying to locate a good '28mm size' running 'bob-tail' (rabbit) - the creature of choice for many a shape shifting witch. Any ideas anyone?
The stats for the bob-tail will not be as nasty as the Rabbit of Caerbannog (Holy Grail fans need not be afraid - it will not be as brutal as this horror) but more based on several witch related folk tales - fast moving and very hard to shoot.

I was under the impression that the witch's familiar in this respect was a hare. To this end I use a 54mm hare from Britian's Toy Farm series. Compared to a 28mm figure it's about the size of a wolf hound, and thus suitably scarey. These creatures come up quite frequently on eBay for a few quid. |

Thanks very much for the hint regarding a suitable figure Drusty. I agree with you, the majority of stories I have read re witches and shape-shifting do tell of a witch transforming into a hare. |

Well you know Witches, Hare today, gone tomorrow.
Quite a lot of toy shops (if you can find them) have a range of german polythene animals and they may have a suitable one.
Other good film could be:
Whicker Man (original of course)

Thanks for your interest Sharpy, you are most welcome to attend. I will post more information about the event in a few months time and then ask folk to confirm if they can make it. Are you going to War Torn this year? |

If Scarborough doesn't work I have a venue in Market Weighton, also has a Black Sheep pub within 2 minutes walk |

Hello Sharpy, There will be a Witchfinder General gaming Day in Scarborough on Saturday 2nd November. It will start at 10 and finish at 5.30 ( with a quick lynch break late morning). It will be a small , friendly and fun event with two tables to play connected Encounters - a 4ft by 4ft area depicting the C17th town of Whitbay and a larger table (4ft by 8ft) for some rural Encounters. The event will be held in a new Youth & Community Centre called 'The Street' ( YO12 7PW) that is located a five minute walk from the train station (bus stop) and stands adjacent to a large car park. As mentioned in earlier posts, if folk fancy a classic horror movie ( via an old fashioned village hall projector screen) and a pint afterwards that is provisionally arranged too. Gamers will need to buy or bring their own food and drink but otherwise the event will be free. If folk can confirm their attendance via this thread or email info@dashingdicegames.co.uk by Friday 27th Sept that would be grand. I will send participants an information pack and we just need to agree the movie.
